Greece is utilizing the Recovery Fund and the new NSRF “to be in the vanguard of green transition,” National Economy & Finance Minister Kostis Hatzidakis said at the 14th Annual Capital Link Sustainability Forum held at an Athens hotel on Tuesday, ANA reports.
The Forum’s theme this year was “Sustainability – Investments & Economic Growth”.
Hatzidakis noted that 30% of funding calls for green actions, corresponding to 7 billion euros for environmental investments that Greece must promote and utilize, either in public projects or in green business entrepreneurship. He noted that 40% of loans from the fiscal budget provided through the Recovery Fund must relate to green transition works. Greece entered the green transition field in 2019, he added, when the Greek prime minister addressed the UN General Assembly. The government started to work on several levels – decarbonization, electric mobility, a national reforestation plan, and a comprehensive management of integrated waste management, among others.
