Climate Crisis Minister inks procurement for 414 new fire vehicles in Greece

An agreement for the procurement of 414 fire vehicles through the completion of a bidding process by the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund was signed by Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Minister Vassilis Kikilias on Wednesday, ANA reports.

At an event at the Hellenic Motor Museum, Kikilias announced that 160 of the 414 fire vehicles will be delivered to the Fire Department before the 2025 fire period, while another 235 will be delivered by August of the same year through a bidding process.

Kikilias noted at the event that “by August 2025, there will be 235 fire vehicles, and along with the remaining agreements, which have been or will be signed in the coming days, related to HRADF, NSRF, and the European Investment Bank, the procurement of fire vehicles for Civil Protection and the Fire Department through ‘AEGIS’ program will total 1,200 vehicles.”

Currently, the minister said, 85% of the vehicles the Fire Department uses are 10 to 49 years old. “Only 15% are under 9 years old, therefore there is a very great need to support the Fire Department operatively, as we have promised.”
