Elafonisi Beach has been named the top beach in the world for 2025 at the Travelers’ Choice® Awards of the world’s largest travel platform, Tripadvisor, in the category of best beaches of the year.
The awards, which are based on an analysis of global reviews written by Tripadvisor users over the past year, highlighted the beaches with the highest ratings from real travelers who visited them and shared their tips and experiences with the world.
Elafonisi makes the list of the best beaches for the first time since 2021. It is a remote beach, known for its pink sand and crystal clear waters, and is a popular summer getaway spot, attracting lovers of sunbathing and water sports. As reported on Tripadvisor, this stunning beach, suitable for families, promises clear shallow waters, a scenic route, and plenty of photo opportunities.
According to the platform, the best time to visit the beach is May and September, when the weather is warm and sunny, with significantly fewer visitors compared to the high summer season.
At the same time, in 10th place in the global ranking and in 4th place in the corresponding European one, Myrtos beach in Kefalonia is located.
The 25 best beaches in Europe, according to this year’s awards, also include Falasarna Beach in Kissamos, Chania (10th place), and Anthony Quinn Beach in Rhodes (11th place), bringing the total number of Greek beaches awarded at the European level to 4.
In parallel, celebrating its 25th anniversary, Tripadvisor chose to honor the top beaches in the world of the last 25 years based on all the reviews that have been written since its foundation to date. In this category, the first beach is the Balos Lagoon, which is considered one of the most photographed spots in Crete, with stunning turquoise waters and panoramic views. Users refer to Balos Lagoon as a “paradise for sea lovers”, with stunning views and crystal clear waters.
