The Municipality of Athens, in collaboration with Greenpeace and Aqualife, celebrates World Water Day on Saturday, March 22, 2025, from 10:00 – 14:00, at Korai Square.
The events will begin with the inauguration of a new public refill point for reusable water bottles by the Mayor of Athens, Haris Doukas. This will be followed by artistic and interactive activities for the public.
The initiative is part of a broader effort to install more public taps in Athens, enabling residents and visitors to have free access to clean and drinkable water. It is part of the “Meet the Taps” campaign that promotes sustainable water management while reducing the need for single-use plastics.
This is a new water supply station in Korai Square accessible to everyone. It has a bottle-filling system with a jet, a water bowl for animals and meets the requirements of the disabled.
In detail, the actions that will take place:
Live Graffiti Act by Soteur (10:00 – 13:00)
The well-known artist Soteur (Sotiris Fokeas) will create a unique work in live action, inspired by water and the climate crisis, transforming public space into a canvas for awareness.
Street Performance by the group Collectif Masi (11:00 – 13:00)
An artistic event that reveals the connection between water and the body in public space.
Creative Children’s Puzzle/ “The Water Puzzle: Every Piece Counts!”
Children will participate in a large collective art project, creating a colorful puzzle full of messages about water and the environment. With the contribution of Natalia Fasfali, this action enhances the imagination and environmental awareness of the young participants.

When leaving, take your own reusable glass, because every small change counts! Together, we reduce plastic waste and make the sustainable choice a daily habit.
The event is held with the support of the city radio station Athens 9.84, which will be at Korai Square to cover the event musically.
