Today, Thursday, April 24, 2025, at 15:30, Dimitsana hosts the official inauguration of the ambitious project “Peloponnese Trails”, which aims to establish the Peloponnese as a leading hiking tourism destination. The new network of trails has been designed with sustainability, cooperation, and development in mind, offering unique opportunities to explore the natural beauty and cultural heritage of the region.
The inauguration event will take place at the Dimitsana Conference and Cultural Center, in the presence of leading political and institutional figures. The Minister of Environment and Energy, Stavros Papastavrou, and the Regional Governor of Peloponnese, Dimitris Ptochos, will open the proceedings, highlighting the strategic importance of the project for the promotion of sustainable tourism in Greece, as well as for the protection of the country’s natural wealth. The presentation of the discussion will be coordinated by journalist Thanos Tziouvelis.
The event will continue with the section “Peloponnese Trails: mission, vision, sustainability”, in which the speakers, Andreas Fiorentinos, Secretary General of the Greek National Tourist Organization, and Thanos Michelongonas, Deputy Regional Governor of Tourism of Peloponnese, will talk about the planning and prospects of the project, analyzing the importance of sustainability in the tourism sector.
The third section of the event will focus on the role of local stakeholders in the development and management of trails. Konstantinos Triantis, CEO of OFYPEKA, Panagiotis Mouzakiotis from Anaptysiaki Parnona S.A., Yiannis Lagos, President of KoinSEP MAINALON, as well as representatives of local cooperatives, will discuss the challenges and opportunities arising from the integration of the local community in the trail network plan.
The event is an important milestone for the development of sustainable tourism in the Peloponnese, aiming to highlight the natural and cultural heritage of the region. “Peloponnese Trails” is not only a tourism initiative but also a strategic plan that combines a national dimension with local roots, promoting cooperation between local stakeholders, citizens, and visitors.
