G. Hadjimarkos: Rhodes will not be left without water

With a clear and reassuring message, the Regional Governor of the South Aegean, Giorgos Hadjimarkos, responds to the rumors circulating about the water sufficiency in Rhodes, emphasizing that the island is not in danger of being left without water and that “irresponsible misinformation only causes damage.”

“Rhodes has sufficient water resources to cover its needs, both for its residents and its visitors,” the Regional Governor notes in a public post, adding that in recent years significant investments have been made in water supply, recycling and water management projects, with the aim of strengthening the island’s resilience to climate pressure.

“Those who have never been through the reservoirs or the projects being implemented are talking about a water shortage. The reality is different: we have a plan, we have implementation, we have results,” he states characteristically.

DEYAR and technical services are constantly monitoring the situation, while new drilling, network upgrades, and desalination projects further strengthen the island’s energy and water security.

Water in Rhodes is not running out – but patience with the distortion of the truth is, as he explains, among other things.
