The Municipality of Kalamaria is continuing its intensive efforts to clean the coastal front, removing seaweed and various types of debris from the shoreline.
Cleanup crews from the contracted company, under the supervision of the Deputy Mayor’s Office for Sanitation and Recycling, carried out extensive cleaning operations, clearing large amounts of seaweed from Karabournaki, Aretsou, and Nea Krini. The operation proved challenging due to strong winds and low tide conditions, which required additional time and effort.
In total, three truckloads of seaweed were removed from the area. A specialized machine was then used to evenly level the sand, significantly improving the appearance and accessibility of the beaches.
The next scheduled intervention is set for the coming month, in line with the municipality’s plan for regular beach maintenance.
The municipal authorities emphasize their continued commitment to enhancing the visual appeal, ensuring environmental cleanliness, and improving the quality of experience for both residents and visitors along Kalamaria’s coastline.
