Hotel cancels August reservations due to water shortage (!)

The Municipality of Central Tzoumerka decided to immediately resolve the water supply problem at the Panthoron Hotel a few days ago at a municipal council meeting after discovering a water shortage from the water supply network to serve its customers.

This was preceded by a relevant proposal by the municipal councilor, Ms. Erasmia Zavitsanou, who stated the following:

“The “Panthoron” hotel, which was created by the late Stavroula Karavasili in Vourgareli, currently belongs to the businessman Georgios Lentoudis and has the capacity to accommodate up to 30 people daily. However, in recent days, the water has not been sufficient for the needs of the people staying at the hotel. The owner informed the Municipality and the President of the village about the problem and was ultimately forced, as I was informed, to cancel reservations for August and return advance payments as he obviously did not want his business to be discredited. Because the impression formed by the dissatisfied prospective customers is not to the benefit of our place, I believe that the Municipality should seek a solution to the issue that has arisen.”

For his part, the Mayor of Central Tzoumerka, Mr. Christos Hassiakos, stated regarding the problem that the Municipality had not received any information until that moment. And he continued by saying, “The owner of the hotel never bothered the Municipality or me personally, nor did he submit any application. As soon as you informed us about the problem, the responsible Deputy Mayor, Mr. Dimitrios Basioukas, went to the scene with the President of the Community”.

The issue of water shortages in destinations in the country, which also affects tourist activity, has been highlighted by Tornos News in a series of reports that it has published since the beginning of the year. The municipalities of the country are attempting to address the issue in various ways. However, in many cases, the problem is not solved in the long term as temporary solutions are given.
