“The most breathtaking place I have ever seen…
The views from the house and pool area were amazing…
My family had a dream vacation…
The best house we ever had, but also the best host…
We will definitely return…”
All of the above comments are authentic and were submitted to official Internet sites from tourists who vacationed in Greece during last week.
They justify what we wrote from this very column on May 11th 2016, more than two months ago:
“Those who decide to visit Greece this year will have an even better opportunity to enjoy its beauties, amazing beaches, crystal clear waters, fantastic weather, rich culture and history, traditional fun and hospitality.”
During these two months, a new tremendous wave of evil and turmoil was unleashed all around us.
Horrific terrorist attacks in Nice and Istanbul that widened the gaping wounds of the Brussels and Paris carnages. War and conflicts that continue to rage throughout the Middle East and North Africa. Financial and refugee crises in Europe that combine with Brexit to escalate uncertainty to higher, almost intolerable, levels. A brutal military coup d’?tat in Turkey that was followed by more atrocities and disgrace.
Under such circumstances, no one can safely predict what the future may hold.
Yet, Greece once again remained a haven of peace and relaxation, offering a much needed break to the millions of noble souls that sought refuge here.
Let us, therefore, rejoice in that thought and pray that this example will inspire more and more of Humanity to come back to its senses…
