The 2016 Youth Jewellers Group Jewellery Design and Manufacturing Championships have concluded with Yianni Lambropoulos, a Greek-Australian, winning first place as Champion Jeweller.
The completion took place at the Sydney Exhibition Centre where 5 jewelers selected from thousands of applicants were chosen to compete for the prize.
They were each given the opportunity to create their own uniquely designed pieces from 12 grams of gold, an oval opal, and several smaller stones. The jewelers were given 11 hours to complete the competition.
On Facebook Yianni wrote: “I was lucky enough to win first prize and have been named ‘Champion Jeweller.’ I’m feeling humbled and overjoyed! I’d like to thank everyone for their ongoing support.”
