‘Good Greek Girl’ among 100 Women of Influence for 2016 (video)

Maria Katsonis has dubbed herself “a good Greek girl at heart, albeit an unconventional one,” as she writes in her novel The Good Greek Girl.

Speaking out and embracing her differences once saved the Harvard Graduate’s life, and now the author and public servant has been recognized for all of her accomplishments as one of the 100 Women of Influence for 2016.

The 100 Women of Influence list is in its fifth year and focuses on highlighting women and their roles in leadership and influence in society.

The 54-year-old is best known as an advocate for mental health and LGBTI issues and is the most senior Victorian public servant to come out as gay.
