A new connection to Heraklion from Brest has been added to Volotea’s flight schedule for summer 2025.
The low-cost Spanish airline, which is closing its base in Athens, will operate the route from June 3, 2025 with an Airbus A320 aircraft, as follows…

The company’s decision to close its base in Athens was recently announced. Volotea, in which Aegean recently acquired a 15% stake, directly employed 80 employees and indirectly over 450, at its base in “El. Venizelos”.
The company is set to move the two Airbus A320 aircraft to its other rapidly growing bases in France and Italy, following the opening of new routes between secondary European cities.
Volotea connected Athens airport to 21 destinations in France, Spain, Italy, Croatia, and Greece, with most connections during the summer season.
In the summer season, Volotea had a significant share of the Greek market, offering 1.6 million seats in 2024, from 13 Greek cities.
