Greece-China tourism relations are entering a new phase of strengthening, on the occasion of the launch of the first direct flight connection between Chengdu and Athens by Sichuan Airlines, scheduled for June 30, 2025.
On the occasion of the upcoming connection, a meeting was held on June 19 at the offices of the Hellenic Tourism Organization (HTO), between the Secretary General of the HTO, Andreas-Nicolaos Fiorentino, and representatives of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Athens. The meeting was attended by Cultural Attach? Wang Jin and Diplomatic Attach? Yuhao Cai, with the main topic being the promotion of the new air route.
As part of the promotional activities, the Greek National Tourism Organization is planning to implement a fam trip for six top Chinese influencers, aiming to broaden interest from the wider region of southwest China.
The direct connection is part of the Greek National Tourism Organization’s strategy for sustainable tourism development, with an emphasis on connecting with new markets, strengthening air networks, and investing in cultural diplomacy.
