In the context of regular inspections and interventions for the continuous improvement of the services provided to the passenger public, the Deputy Governor of Airports Management, Mr. Alexandros Karydis, accompanied by a team from the HCAA’s Airport Compliance Monitoring System (CMS), the Technical Maintenance Directorate (TD) and the Technical Support Directorate (TSD), paid visits to the State Airports of Araxos and Nea Anchialos.
During the visit to the above airports, the Deputy Governor of the HCAA met with the Airport Manager of Araxos, Mrs. Eleni Giannaki, and the Airport Manager of Nea Anchialos, Mr. Athanasios Kasioras, as well as with all the airport staff.
In the meetings that followed, the progress of the infrastructure upgrade works was examined for both airports, according to the approved execution schedule.
In particular, the following interventions have been completed at Araxos Airport:
Deforestation of all areas of the Airport
Remediation of subsidence in the Airport Parking area
Remediation of damage to the Airport’s wastewater management facilities
Sending/receiving pharmaceutical material
Implementation of Disinfestation – Mycosis
The following are in progress/implementation phase at Araxos Airport:
Electrical equipment upgrade works with receipt of new spare parts
Process of upgrading fire protection of facilities
Waterproofing of Airport buildings
Fencing works
BMS (Building Management Systems)
Upgrading of conveyor belt infrastructure
Renovation of W.C.
Regarding Nea Anchialos Airport, the interventions related to:
Replacement of the air terminal’s water supply pressure unit
Restoration of the operation of the baggage conveyor belt for departing passengers
Restoration of the operation of the central emergency lighting system of the air terminal
Repair of external doors of the airside side of the air terminal
Also at Nea Anchialos Airport, the following are in progress:
Partial upgrade and problem-repair works in the passenger toilets
Restoration of the operation of part of the sewage system
Interventions in the medium voltage substation
In addition, a meeting was held with the Commanders of the 116th Air Base and 111th Air Base (Araxos and N. Anchialos Combat Wings respectively) on issues of cooperation in operational procedures.
The Hellenic Civil Aviation Administration continues its visits and inspections at the country’s regional airports, aiming at effective supervision, the modernization of infrastructure and the assurance of high quality services to the passenger public.
