Agent charters ‘party’ cruise for celebrities to Mykonos and Santorini in 2017

Agent and operator Lee’s Travel Group launched the Forever Cruises brand last December. It will charter Royal Caribbean’s Jewel of the Seas from June 11 next year for seven nights.

The entertainment will include “A-list” rappers and in-house DJs, while passengers already confirmed include TV’s Made in Chelsea and The Only Way is Essex stars.

David Tan, Lee’s Travel business development manager, told TTG the cruise, entitled “Anchored”, was targeted at people aged 20-35, as part of a bid to “get younger people into cruising”.

However, he added that those applying for tickets – which can only be done through promotions company Unique Parties – would be “vetted”.

“The idea is to target young people to go on cruises – we want to change the average demographic.

“Ships are built for more fun now – they’re moving clubs.”

Exclusive night

Jewel of the Seas will sail a round-trip voyage from Rome, with ports of call including Santorini, Mykonos, Cannes and Monte Carlo. The overnight in Mykonos will include entrance to an exclusive night at the popular Cavo Paradiso night club.

Tan said the aim was to achieve a 70/30 ratio of females to males onboard, claiming that this represented the model of most exclusive, high-end parties. More charters are also planned for the future, including a sailing in the Caribbean next winter.

Tickets, which lead-in at £699 based on four people sharing an inside cabin, will include all food and entertainment, with drinks packages available.

Lee’s Travel, which has its own Atol, has historically focused on selling to the Asian market in the UK, but is now diversifying its offering.

The Anchored cruise has soft-launched, with 30 packages sold already and 500 enquiries submitted. Focused marketing “pushes” are now planned for October, December and January.

Ben Bouldin, sales director for UK and Ireland, Royal Caribbean, said: “We’re extremely excited to be partnering with Forever Cruises on this exclusive Jewel of the Seas charter.

“This is a great opportunity to introduce people who have never cruised with us before to the array of extraordinary experiences onboard, whilst visiting a variety of amazing Mediterranean destinations.”
