Shipping Minister Panagiotis Kouroumblis and Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura expressed their optimism that the cruise sector will have very positive results in 2017.
Both ministers spoke of a new national development plan that starts with the exploitation of maritime tourism with special focus on cruise.
“We are trying to create a positive climate and persuade private operators to get involved in the cruise sector,” Kouroumblis said and added that efforts are being made to connect the regional airports with the nearby ports.
Kouroumblis underlined that the draft law to be submitted soon to Parliament will, among other things, provide solutions to the problems that exist with the port and bay infrastructure and invited private companies to invest in exchange for concessions.
