Paros Steps into the Spotlight of Luxury Cruising

By Ioannis Bras (*)

Paros is taking steady steps to position itself on the global luxury cruise map. On September 26, 2025, the Town Hall hosted a high-level working meeting that brought together representatives of local government, professional associations, and the island’s cruise development advisor, to set the course for the next stage of growth.

The President of the Paros-Antiparos Port Authority, Ifigeneia Chatzigeorgiou, highlighted luxury cruising as a strategic opportunity. “It can diversify our tourism product, strengthen the local economy, and extend the tourism season to ten months,” she noted, emphasizing that the goal is to establish a unified action framework in collaboration with all stakeholders.

Mayor of Paros, Kostas Bizas, underlined that the island has reached a stage of maturity and that luxury cruising can generate significant added value, attracting high-spending visitors, lengthening the season, and delivering direct benefits to local businesses.

Ioannis Bras, CEO of Five Senses Consulting and Seatrade Ambassador, presented international market trends and outlined the strategic steps required for Paros to position itself as a boutique luxury cruise destination. He stressed the importance of developing a new tender point interface in Naousa, strengthening partnerships with local professionals, and highlighted the growing interest of international cruise companies in Paros-an indication of increasing confidence in the destination.

The discussion concluded with contributions from local stakeholders and business representatives, who raised both proposals and concerns. The common message was clear: better coordination, upgraded infrastructure, and close cooperation with the local community are essential to maximize the benefits of luxury cruising for the island.

President Chatzigeorgiou closed the meeting with a message of optimism:
“With coordination, consistency, and cooperation, we can establish Paros as a reference point for luxury cruising in the Aegean. Today’s meeting is only the beginning.”
