Grand Egyptian Museum to open on July 3

In particular, the museum’s opening will include a series of unique events, both locally and internationally, organized by United Media Services Company, which is known for organizing large cultural parades and ceremonies.

With an investment of $1.2 billion, largely financed by loans and government funds, the museum is expected to significantly boost Egypt’s economy, attracting millions of tourists from around the world.

The Grand Egyptian Museum, located near the iconic Pyramids of Giza, is one of Egypt’s most ambitious cultural projects. Covering an area of ??approximately 500,000 square meters, the museum houses more than 100,000 archaeological artifacts, offering a comprehensive picture of Egyptian history and culture.

One of the museum’s most important exhibits is the complete collection of Tutankhamun’s treasures, with over 5,000 objects, many of which are being shown to the public for the first time. In addition, the museum has the oldest and largest wooden boat discovered in Egypt, aged 4,600 years.

The architecture of the Grand Egyptian Museum is also impressive

The architecture of the Grand Egyptian Museum is also impressive, with the huge statue of Ramses II welcoming visitors at the entrance. The museum is designed to offer a unique experience, combining ancient Egyptian heritage with modern museum practices, while aiming not only to preserve Egyptian cultural heritage but also to educate the public through interactive experiences. It is also planned to host international exhibitions, research centers, and cultural workshops. Its location near the Pyramids of Giza enhances its tourist value, offering an unparalleled experience to visitors.

Moreover, the museum’s acronym, GEM, (Grand Egyptian Museum), also refers to the English word “gem” which means “precious stone”, which fits perfectly with the importance and uniqueness of the museum as a “jewel” of Egypt’s cultural heritage.

It is worth noting that, despite the delays, the Grand Egyptian Museum opened its doors to the public on a trial basis very recently, while it was honored by UNESCO with the prestigious Prix Versailles award, recognizing it as one of the most beautiful museums in the world for 2024.
