The Athens Hoteliers Association celebrates its 80th anniversary

The special dynamic of Athens due to its unique popularity that gave good results for 2024, as well as the timeless issues facing the destination of Athens and requiring infrastructure and strategy, was referred to in his speech by the President of the Athens Hoteliers Association, Mr. Evgenios Vassilikos, during the event held for the cutting of the Association’s New Year’s cake, on the afternoon of Monday 10.02.2025 at the “Radisson Blu Park Athens” hotel in the Areos field.

This specific event inaugurated the cycle of special actions and events that are being launched in the context of the celebration of 2025 as the anniversary year for the 80 years of active presence of the Association in public affairs and was held in the presence of the Secretary-General of Tourism Policy & Development, Ms. Vasiliki Koutsoukou, the Secretary General of the Greek National Tourism Organization, Mr. Andreas Fiorentinos, representatives of the Greek Hotel Association and the Greek Hotel Association and of course, many owners and managers of the hotels – members of the Association.

As pointed out by the President of the Association of Athens, Mr. Evgenios Vassilikos (photo), addressing both the Hoteliers of Athens and the representatives of the State, Tourism, and the Greek Hotel Industry, “the Association of Hoteliers of Athens, Attica and Argosaronic this year celebrates 80 years of continuous and consistent presence in the public sphere, acting daily and participating – actively and effectively. Regardless of governments, local authorities, individuals, conditions, the tireless work and continuous actions of the Association, constitute a stable point of reference for the hotels of Athens and a compass for the hotels of the entire country”.

The Association emphasized Mr. Vasilikos is an ally of every Hotel, every category, and every hotelier in Athens, offering a strong voice of representation. At the same time, it is a strong and very strict look at ‘there’ and ‘where’ the decisions are made.

The presence and role of the Union, said Mr. Vasilikos, must be strengthened even further from now on. This can only happen if every hotel, of any category and in any part of Attica and the islands of the Argosaronic Gulf, joins the Union without reservations and if all together in a spirit of team and unity, we decide to be informed and to dynamically defend the rights and needs of our businesses.

Both the Secretary General of Tourism Policy & Development, Mrs. Vasiliki Koutsoukou, and the Secretary General of the Greek National Tourist Organization, Mr. Andreas Fiorentinos (photo) welcoming the event pointed out the very good performance of Greek Tourism and the many prospects that are opening up especially for Athens. They also referred to the efforts implemented by the Ministry and the Greek National Tourism Organization as well as the new Law that lays the foundations for the settlement and regulation of a series of issues that concern the tourism world and need to be resolved. These efforts continue as they emphasize and require the maintenance of the already cherished and constructive cooperation between public and private entities in the Tourism sector.
