A letter to the Ministry of Tourism informing about the strong dissatisfaction of the 5,000 visitors who were transferred to other hotel accommodations due to the fire and were asked to pay the climate change fee again was sent by the Heraklion Hotel Association.
As the Association points out, while the tourism entrepreneurs demonstrated immediate reflexes and great empathy, rushing in an organized and safe manner to move their customers from the hotels threatened by the flames to other safe “zones”, the State not only did not show reflexes but also did not show even elementary sensitivity.
In this context, he proposes the following…
To refund in full the climate change fee paid by the 5,000 visitors who were forced to change accommodation due to the fire.
To immediately create a clear response mechanism for the Ministry for such extraordinary circumstances, so as to prevent similar injustices in the future.
To provide immediate and clear information to hotel associations and industry professionals on the proper management of such cases, so as to avoid unnecessary inconvenience for visitors and professionals.
“The timely and proper management of such issues is essential for the image of our country as a reliable and hospitable tourist destination,” he specifically points out.
