Report: China seeks Aegean-Danube link through Greece

Greece – by way of its port of Piraeus – is the linchpin in an ambitious Chinese project to use the Aegean to get to the Danube River and establish a water link to bring goods into the European Union, the newspaper Kathimerini said.

China’s Cosco already controls Piraeus after a major stake was sold by the ruling Radical Left SYRIZA-led coalition which promised to stop privatizations and not only reneged but rejoiced when the Chinese took over the port.
