The European Investment Bank has approved a 48-million-euro loan to the Gas Distribution Company of the Rest of Greece (DEDA) to construct natural gas distribution networks in 18 cities (Lamia, Chalkida, Thiva, Livadia, Amfissa, Karpenisi, Katerini, Kilkis, Serres, Veria, Giannitsa, Alexandria, Alexandroupoli, Komotini, Drama, Xanthi, Orestiada and Kavala).
In an announcement on Tuesday, DEDA noted the loan was a vote of confidence in government policy in the field of regional development, energy and supporting Greek households. The loan will have a four-year gratis period and a 20-year repayment period. It carries the guarantee of National Gas Enterprise DEPA, parent of DEDA. The project is expected to create more than 2,500 direct and indirect job positions during the construction period 2018-2023.
