Thessaloniki Port Authority SA will present the timetable of its new investment programme in early May, focusing on expanding the sixth pier, Sotiris Theofanis, new chairman and CEO in the company announced during a handover ceremony on Monday, according to ANA
Theofanis stressed that the priorities of the new board of Thessaloniki Port Authority include a drastic improvement of operations, which means supplies of equipment and redesigning of works, transferring Terminal Link’s know-how (one of the three partners) and a faster beginning of compulsory investments. The goal of the new management is to meet the expectations of the business community and the Greek state, Theofanis said, adding that the personnel will be re-evaluated and that the company will cover any vacancies wherever needed.
The new board was formed on Friday, March 23, after the payment of 231.926 million euros and the completion of the transfer of 67 pct of Thessaloniki Port Authority’s equity capital to South Europe Gateway Thessaloniki (SEGT) Ltd, which includes Deutsche Invest Equity Partners GmbH (47 pct), Terminal Link SAS (33 pct) and Belterra Investments Ltd (20 pct).
According to previous announcements, the new board of directors is as follows:
- 1. Sotirios Theofanis, OL.Th’s president of the board and CEO, executive member
- 2. Boris Wenzel, alternate president of the board, non-executive member, CEO of France-based Terminal Link SAS
- 3. Arthur Davidian, non-executive member
- 4. Angelos Vlachos, independent non-executive member
- 5. Alexander-Wilhelm Von Mellenthin, non-executive member
- 6. Panagiotis Alevras, independent non-executive member
- 7. Gabriel Ioannou, non-executive member
- 8. Panagiotis Michopoulos, independent non-executive member
- 9. Yung Yu, independent non-executive member
Based on reports compiled by “Naftemporiki”, the first initiative on the investors’ agenda is immediate maintenance of current equipment as well as upgrades over the next six months.
