Recovery Fund dominates the agenda of the European Union Summit

The European Commission’s proposal regarding the 750 billion euros Recovery Fund, as well as the EU’s new long-term budget, are expected to be discussed at the EU Summit to be held today via teleconference, int.ert.gr reports.

Concerning the Commission’s 750 billion euros proposal, about 500 billion will be provided in grants and 250 billion euros in loans, in order to rehabilitate economies that have been hit hardest by the pandemic.

The Netherlands, Austria, Denmark, Sweden and Finland are expected to raise objections, arguing that the amount of the package is too big and that they want more aid in the form of loans, rather than grants.

From the Greek side, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will also raise the issue of Turkish provocation in the Mediterranean and will inform his counterparts about all the developments in the region.
