Gr. Tasios on the Development Law | “Tourism needs fair support”

The need for more substantial support for the tourism sector through the new Development Law is highlighted in a statement by the president of the Halkidiki Hoteliers Association, Mr. Grigoris Tasios, expressing the anxiety of tourism entrepreneurs for the future development and competitiveness of the sector.

“Tourism is not just a strong sector; it is the support of thousands of families, the support of local communities and the image of our homeland in the world”, emphasizes Mr. Tasios, underlining the crucial importance of tourism for the Greek economy and local communities.

Recognizing the need for the Development Law to support other sectors of the economy, the president of the Association notes that even in areas with a low growth rate, where support for tourism investments is provided, “the amounts remain small”. As he points out, the Halkidiki Hoteliers Association submitted its proposals in a timely and documented manner to the public consultation, calling for a fairer distribution of aid, with the hope that the issue will be reconsidered in the next revision of the law.

“I will continue to stand by the people of tourism and support every effort for a more sustainable, targeted and competitive sector — with a plan, cooperation and realism,” underlines Mr. Tasios, sending a message of unity and advocacy for a better future for Greek tourism.
