The Historic Shopping Center of Chania is entering a new era, with the ambitious project “Chania Open Mall” promising a modern, welcoming, and aesthetically upgraded space for visitors and residents. At an event held at the Chamber of Chania, the comprehensive study was presented to professionals in the area, confirming the progress towards the implementation of the project.
The initiative, which began in 2019 with the strategic partnership of the Chamber and the Municipality of Chania, was successfully integrated into the NSRF Operational Program “Competitiveness – Entrepreneurship – Innovation”. The aim is to strengthen the local economy and create a new high-quality shopping experience, which will connect the traditional identity of the city with modern tourism dynamics.
The “Chania Open Mall” will include:
Creation of a unified commercial identity,
Aesthetic upgrade of store facades,
Adoption of “smart” technological solutions (smart benches, interactive infopoints, digital signage, etc.).
With the project entering its final phase – the announcement of a tender for the award of the construction works – Chania is preparing to offer visitors a unique open-air shopping experience, in a setting that combines the traditional character with the modern needs of experiential tourism, always according to the initiators of the plan.
