Two permits for floating platforms were approved by the competent bodies, for placement in marine areas of Sounio and Lefkada.
Specifically, the General Directorate of Antiquities and Cultural Heritage approved, from the point of view of archaeological law, the placement of a floating platform for seasonal use, in front of the CAPE SOUNIO hotel, at the 67th km of Athens-Sounio Avenue.
It is noted that the works for the placement of the floating platform are those that appear exclusively in the study that was transmitted to the competent services of the Ministry of Culture.
Also, the Ephorate of Underwater Antiquities should be informed, so that, if deemed necessary, an authorized employee of the same can monitor the work, while in the future no further expansion, configuration or other intervention should be carried out on the shore, beach or marine area of ??the above area without securing the written consent of the competent services of the Ministry of Culture.
Furthermore, for any future work in the hotel unit in question, whether excavations are required or not, interested parties must submit a request with full supporting documents to the competent services for approval.
At the same time, the General Secretariat of Ports, Port Policy and Maritime Investments approved the placement of a floating platform, with an area of ??48 sq.m. in the sea area of ??Karnagio, in the settlement of Steno in Lefkada, for the purpose of mooring boats, on behalf of the company KONIDARIS BROS & CO. OE and for seasonal use up to 9 months.
It is noted that, among other things, the floating platform should be placed at a safe distance from any port works located or being constructed in the specific sea area, as well as from maritime hazards, especially shipwrecks, areas where tides are observed, etc.
In addition, the floating platform should not impede safe navigation or be located within navigable channels and sea lanes, as well as in areas where submarine cables and pipelines are laid.
Finally, the floating platform is not allowed to be used for the installation and operation of restaurants or entertainment centers, nor can it serve as permanent boat moorings or for advertising purposes. Also, in the event of the discovery of ancient or cultural objects during the installation of the floating platform, those responsible for the project must stop the work and immediately notify the Ephorate of Underwater Antiquities.
