Municipality of Dorida: New water supply projects in Chiliadou to support tourism development

The Municipality of Dorida is proceeding with two critical interventions to strengthen the water supply infrastructure in the Municipal Community of Managouli, focusing on the Chiliadou area, one of the fastest growing tourist destinations in the Municipality.

In particular, it was decided to immediately construct a new water supply tank next to the existing one, along with the accompanying technical works, as well as the completion of the new services in the Chiliadou network and their connection. These are interventions that aim to permanently resolve the chronic problem of water adequacy, which worsens every summer due to increased tourist traffic.

Urgent need due to tourism development

In recent years, Chiliadou (below photo) has become a reference point for the tourism development of the Municipality of Dorida. With the continuous increase in visitors and the creation of new hospitality businesses, the demand for water has skyrocketed. Frequent interruptions in the water supply and the limited water supply cause significant problems for both residents and professionals, especially in hotels and catering establishments that form the backbone of the local economy.

The municipal authority recognizes that without the immediate reinforcement of the water system, the further development of the area is at risk of being halted. The new infrastructure will ensure a stable water supply, significantly improving the quality of life and service for visitors.

New tourist investments and increasing traffic

Chiliadou is now among the most dynamic areas of Dorida, attracting the highest traffic in the Municipality. Four new tourist units and a complex of 40 residences are already under construction, which confirms the positive development path of the area. At the same time, the water supply projects will act as a growth multiplier, enhancing the attractiveness of the area for new investments.

Chiliadou now has complete tourist infrastructure, with hotels, seaside restaurants, fish taverns, beach bars and cafes, which create a lively, hospitable setting for the visitor. Its extensive beach, approximately two kilometers long, and the small harbor for fishing boats compose a landscape of authentic Greek summer experience.

Chiliadou as a destination

Built in the Mornos plain, next to the blue waters of the Corinthian Gulf, Chiliadou stands out for its natural beauty and its peaceful atmosphere. It is a small rural village, surrounded by farmland, with low two-story houses and tiled roofs that welcome the visitor at the entrance to the village. The main road, which ends at the coastal zone, is the core of village life, where traditional images coexist with modern tourist activity.

The tourist development of Chiliadou is not accidental. Its natural environment, proximity to the sea and the genuine hospitality of the residents have made it an attractive destination for families, couples and visitors seeking authentic experiences. At the same time, the area is an ideal base for excursions to the mountains of Dorida and the traditional communities of the hinterland.

Infrastructure for a sustainable future

The decision on the water supply projects is not limited only to covering current needs, but is part of an overall sustainable development strategy of the Municipality. With the new reservoir and the upgraded network, Chiliadou gains a solid foundation to continue developing without burdening the natural environment or undermining the quality of life of the residents.

The Municipal Authority emphasizes that the goal is to ensure an adequate and quality water supply to all settlements, in order to support tourism, strengthen the local economy and protect the natural reserve of the area.

With the new projects, Chiliadou takes a decisive step towards the future, combining development, quality of life and sustainability, three factors that can make Doris a model of gentle tourist development for all of Central Greece.
