The completion of the path will help boost local tourism, providing visitors with new options for activities, such as hiking and cycling, and highlighting the area as an excellent choice for those seeking a peaceful escape in nature.

Highlighting the Panagiotiko Dam and its lake
The “Panagiotiko” Dam is a key element of the region’s water supply infrastructure and a source of life for South Pelion. The artificial lake it creates is particularly important for the region’s ecosystem, as it provides drinking water as well as water for irrigation. Furthermore, the presence of the lake contributes to the water balance and the protection of the local environment, contributing to the regeneration of flora and fauna.

The dam’s lake is also popular for the tranquility it offers its visitors, creating an ideal space for walks, photography and nature observation. With the completion of the perimeter path project, visitors will be able to tour the area and enjoy the view of the lake and the surrounding natural landscape. The development of the trail around the lake will allow visitors to access vantage points overlooking the artificial lake, where they can enjoy the scenery and observe the birds and wildlife that live there.

The area around the dam and the lake is also known for its rich biodiversity, with various species of plants and animals found in the area, making it an ideal destination for nature lovers and bird watchers. This project is expected to further highlight the natural beauty of the area, enhancing ecotourism and attracting more visitors who wish to experience nature in an authentic environment.
