On November 25, the mayor met at the Ministry of Interior with the director of the minister’s office, Konstantinos Tsantidis, discussing the progress of funding and the needs for infrastructure projects. He then participated in the meeting of the council of mountain municipalities of the KEDE, where the financial and institutional issues of concern to the mountain local governments were examined.
On the same day, at 20:00, Mr. Zervos attended the memorial event for Vardis Vardinoyannis at the Athens Concert Hall, where, as emphasized, his multifaceted contribution to society and Crete was honored.
On November 26, accompanied by his special associate Stavros Kapridakis, the mayor returned to the Ministry of Interior for meetings with the Secretary General of Local Government and Decentralization Savvas Chionidis, the Secretary General of Interior and Organization Athanasios Balermas, the Head of the Local Government Personnel Directorate Afroditi Diamantopoulou and service factors. The focus was on the needs to strengthen municipal services with additional personnel and the development of project funding requests.
At the Ministry of Environment and Energy, Mr. Zervos met with the Secretary General for Waste Management Coordination, Manolis Grafakos, and officials from the Ministry. The discussion focused on the financing of mature studies for the upgrade and operation of biological treatment plants, which are of critical importance for the protection of the natural environment and the service of residents and visitors.
The Mayor of Sfakion expressed satisfaction with the positive climate of the contacts and the response of the competent bodies, underlining that the municipality will continue to consistently demand resources and solutions.
At this point, it should be emphasized that the contacts are part of an organized effort to ensure the sustainability and development path of one of the most demanding areas of Crete.
