The Ministry of Tourism has approved grant applications for investment projects to create accessible beaches in the municipalities of Andritsaina-Krestena and Aktio-Vonitsa. This initiative is part of the program Improvement and Modification of Accessibility in Greek Beaches under the Recovery and Resilience Fund, financed by the European Union NextGeneration EU.
The program aims to improve accessibility for people with mobility challenges or other disabilities through comprehensive investment interventions, including semi-permanent installations that enhance existing infrastructure.
Interventions include the construction of temporary beach access ramps (such as portable ramps for individuals with mobility issues and wheeled ramps for access to the sea), the provision of temporary auxiliary facilities such as modular changing rooms, portable sanitary facilities, and walkways made of sections suitable for easy transport and storage during the winter season. Essential equipment for accessible beaches, specialized signage, and other infrastructure elements are also included as needed.
Andritsaina-Krestena
In this context, the Ministry of Tourism approved the grant application of the Municipality of Andritsaina-Krestena for Kato Samiko Beach. The total approved project budget is 69,741.05.
Accessible Beaches in Aktio-Vonitsa
At the same time, the Ministry approved the grant application of the Municipality of Aktio-Vonitsa for four beaches: Loutraki, Vathiavali Pogonias, Agios Ioannis Agiou Nikolaou, and Lygia Plagias. The total approved project budget is 266,643.20.
Projects are considered complete after inspection and certification of both the physical implementation (installation and functionality) and the financial execution, meaning all project expenditures have been fully executed and certified.
Finally, beneficiaries are not allowed to change the ownership status of the supported entity during the implementation and compliance period of long-term obligations, except with approval from the Department of Spatial Planning and Infrastructure of the Ministry of Tourism.
