OTE Group completed works of a new Data Center for the National Research & Technology Network GRNET, offering solution to the problem of back up storage and long-term access for imaging tests (x-rays, etc) of Greek hospitals.
Imaging tests in 31 interconnected hospitals are now able to be stored permanently in cloud infrastructure, offering direct online access to certified medical staff.
An OTE Group announcement said the project will significantly reduce hospitals’ operating expenses, both on equipment and expendables, while offering solution to the problem of local storage.
Beyond the direct benefits offered to patients and hospitals, the project also supports the research community in the country.
The Data Center was installed in a building offered by the University of Crete and it is interconnected through optical fiber network with 31 hospitals in eight regions of the country.
