48 natural healing springs now officially recognized in Greece

48 natural healing springs have been officially recognized and issued an ID in Greece out of a total of 113 files that have been filed with the Ministry of Tourism for recognition. 

Greece, due to the volcanic soil of many of its regions, has plenty of mineral and thermal springs, others are used and others are not. Altogether over 750 thermal springs have been counted. The thermal springs are differentiated on the basis of the metallic and chemical elements and the temperature of the water, but also its other properties. So there are chlorate or hydrochloric acid, acid, radioactive, sulphide, etc. Based on these data, experts have classified the sources according to the diseases for which they are indicated. Nowadays, the Hellenic Association of Thermal Springs has embarked on a systematic effort for characterization and licensing on the basis of the modern specifications of the thermal springs in order to strengthen the thermal tourism in the country.
