Initiative to attract film productions in Greece presented by relevant Minister

Digital Policy, Technologies and Media Minister Nikos Pappas, joined by Media and Communications Secretary General Lefteris Kretsos, presented Greece’s initiative to attract film productions, along with the initiative for a National Center for Audiovisual Media and Communication (EKOME), to ambassadors and other representatives of countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and others.

The minister stressed the audiovisual industry’s enormous potential, also remarking that Greece has a magnificent natural plateau, facilitating great productions of high quality. Nikos Pappas also noted that 75 million have already been disbursed to support audiovisual productions.

In turn, the Media and Communication Secretary General, Lefteris Kretsos, underlined that this is an important opportunity for international co-operation in audiovisual productions, speaking of a sector that is growing rapidly on many levels.

National Center for Audiovisual Media and Communication president and CEO, Panos Kouanis, pointed out: “These are fast-track procedures with a 45-day timetable for authorizing a production, away from bureaucracy, online, and directly funding the productions.” Kouanis also stressed that the plan to support audiovisual production is important to the country’s economy, with an impact on many sectors.
