A registry for kept equines will be set up following a decision signed by Deputy Agricultural Development & Foods Minister Simos Kedikoglou on Monday, ANA reports.
The decision will allow the tracing of equines and the supervision of their care. Veterinary services in Greek regions will be responsible for entering information on the database that relates to the identity of equines, the facilities they are kept at, and the identity of those responsible for the facilities. Each animal’s data will include origin, date of birth at the facility, and loss (death or theft). Those born in Greece will have a unique code number, a single identification document, and be fitted with a chip.
