Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Patras, a hierarch distinguished for his articulate discourse on ecclesiastical and social matters, always speaking with love and frankness, in his interview with The National Herald, opened his heart and spoke about the Greek-American Community with words of goodwill, love, honor, and appreciation.
Responding to the question, “Your Eminence, what do you believe about the Greek-American Community? What are we to you?” Metropolitan Chrysostomos said: “You are our soul and our heart. We love you; we live with the thought of you, with our love for your persons. Indeed, I come from Arcadia, from a village near Tripoli called Louka, where in the 1960s and earlier, and certainly later, many people left my village and went to Chicago and New York, to Canada and Australia. It is a nostalgia for the faces that we hold in our hearts, and I believe that you have made Greece proud, you glorify it through the values ??you serve, through our Orthodox Faith and Tradition, and of course, you have beautified the World and, as the Holy Gospel says, ‘salted and enlightened’ it. We love you very much, we rejoice, we are proud. Abroad, there is another Greece, and we always pray for you, may God keep you well, your families, and your children, and you maintain the Greek language, the Orthodox Faith, and the Hellenic-Christian ideals. Greece, with its spirit, is everywhere.”
