Greek Migration and Asylum Minister Dimitris Kairidis met on Friday with the Ukrainian Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers Oleh Nemchinov, ANA reports.
The Greek minister was briefed on the situation in Ukraine and, after expressing Greece’s support for the Ukrainian people’s struggle, he presented in detail the Greek government’s policy in terms of providing temporary protection to the Ukrainian citizens currently in Greece.
The total number of registered Ukrainians under temporary protection is 27,000 but the total number of Ukrainians in Greece is much higher. Another 4,500 Ukrainians of all ages participated in the integration program “HELIOS” of the Migration and Asylum Ministry which provides rent subsidy, Greek language lessons, as well as vocational training and healthcare.
