Specifically, the project concerns the upgrade, in two phases, of the existing Ski Center, which includes three ski slopes categorized based on difficulty and two slopes, one for beginners at the base of the ski center and one for snowboarding on the central slope.

According to the content of the decision, one of the general directions of the spatial development of the Kastoria region is the utilization of local resources that are of interest for the development and promotion of soft forms of tourism (agritourism, sightseeing, hiking, ski, cultural tourism, etc.). with a more specific direction of strengthening the networking of the settlements of the wider region with the Kastoria tourist pole and promoting their complementary operation in the tourism sector. After the upgrade, the total capacity will amount to 1800 people per hour, specifically 900 people per hour for the new adult ski lift and 900 people per hour for the two baby lifts and the disabled ski lift.

The second phase of the upgrade will include, among other things, the installation of a new aerial lift with a length of 800 meters and a capacity of 1,000 people per hour, the relocation of the first phase’s drag lift to a new location with a length of 500 meters and the same capacity of 900 people per hour, including the necessary technical infrastructure (opening a new forest strip, shaping the ground, etc.) as well as the widening of the existing forest strip of the existing lift, land reclamation and shaping works, so that it can function as a new ski slope.

Upon completion of the second upgrade, the total capacity will amount to 2,800 people per hour.
