Tomorrow, April 5, and the day after, April 6, Arta puts on its… sportswear and runners from every corner of Greece will participate in the region’s top sporting event – the 9th Arta Half Marathon “The Road of Giofiriou”. More than a race, it is a unique experience that combines sports with history, cultural heritage, and the unparalleled natural beauty of Epirus.
Running alongside legends
The route passes by the emblematic stone Bridge of Arta, a trademark of the city, known from the folk song that accompanies it with mystery and emotion.
Discovering Byzantine Arta
Arta is a city with a strong Byzantine past. From the era of the Despotate of Epirus, unique examples of architecture have survived, such as the Byzantine churches that adorn its historic center.
In the footsteps of Ambracia
Built on the ruins of ancient Ambracia, the capital of the kingdom of Pyrrhus, Arta is a living archaeological destination, which ideally combines the past with the present.
The Half Marathon “Giophyriou’s Path” is not just a race. It is an opportunity for the visitor to discover a surprising city, full of memories, flavors and authentic Epirus hospitality.
