Summer and autumn in Attica gain an intense sports pulse, as Municipalities of the Region organize competitions and tournaments open to all, with a backdrop of the sea, greenery, history, and always with the aim of strengthening mass sports.
Among other things, the following interesting sports activities are planned to take place in the near future:
The Municipality of Galatsi is planning a unique professional boxing event on June 1st at Alsos Veikou, with the participation of elite boxers from the national team and top sports clubs (AEK, Olympiacos, Panathinaikos). Admission will be free for the public, and spectators are expected to exceed 2,000.
On the same day, the Municipality of Glyfada is planning 5 and 1 km races for each athlete on the beachfront, next to the City Hall, with participation expected to reach 1,500 people.
A few days later, from 6 to 8 June, Porto Rafti is “serving” beach volleyball at the Municipality of Markopoulos tournament, on Agios Spyridonas beach. The event is aimed at teenagers and adults and takes place during a period of increased traffic, with over 80,000 holidaymakers in the area.
On 14 June, the Municipality of Agistri is planning races for all ages (10, 5, 1 km, and 500 m), with participation expected to exceed 200 children.
In the fall, on September 20, the Municipality of Amaroussi pays tribute to Spyros Louis, the legendary Maroussi resident who became a symbol of the 1896 Olympic Games and Greek sports in general. In the context of the World Truce, the organization of the “Running on the Paths of Spyros Louis” race is planned, with 5 and 1 kilometer routes as well as a dynamic walk, at the OAKA premises. This action aspires to connect the historical past with the modern need for sports, participation, and noble competition, attracting citizens of all ages, with an emphasis on young athletes.
A few days later, on September 28, the Municipality of Aspropyrgos plans a race focusing on the participation of citizens and children, with a total participation expected to reach 1,000 people.
