On May 17 and 18, an International Conference focusing on the Apostle Paul is scheduled to be held in Corinth, with the participation of all the cities of the “In the Footsteps of the Apostle Paul” network, placing the city of Corinth at the heart of this tourist action.
According to the Municipality of Corinth, within the framework of tourism development and promotion in Greece and abroad, the implementation of extroverted actions and the promotion of tourism and cultural heritage is planned, with the main pillar being the creation of Pilgrimage tourism events centered on the Apostle Paul, one of the most important figures of early Christianity, who visited the city of Corinth 3 times and whose letters “to the Corinthians” are excellent examples of Christian discourse.
Monuments and places that have been preserved over the centuries, today move and attract thousands of faithful travelers from every corner of the world, who want to follow in the footsteps of the Apostle Paul.
Apostle Paul: From Tarsus to Corinth, and from History to Faith
The Apostle Paul, a Jew by origin and a Roman citizen, was one of the most important shapers of the Christian faith. From a persecutor of the first Christians, he was converted after his shocking experience on the road to Damascus and dedicated himself to spreading the gospel. Corinth was one of his most important apostolic stops: he visited it three times and addressed two of his most fundamental letters to the community there, raising issues of morality, theology, and ecclesiastical life.
In Corinth, the Apostle Paul taught in places that today constitute historical and religious landmarks, such as the Steps of Gallio. His presence sealed the spiritual course of the region, transforming it into the epicenter of Pilgrimage routes for Christians everywhere. Indeed, the presence of the Apostle Paul in Corinth is not only historical – it is alive even today, in every traveler who walks in his footsteps. His word, deeply personal yet universal, continues to inspire believers, theologians, and seekers in every era.
