A location of international fame and unparalleled natural beauty, the Canal of Love in Corfu is set to star in the new season of the British documentary television series The Cruise: Fun-Loving Brits at Sea. Filming is scheduled for May 20, from 08:00 to 18:00, at Canal D’Amour Beach in the municipality of North Corfu.
According to the decision of the municipality, which also granted the relevant permit, the filming will be carried out with portable equipment and by a small crew of six people from the production company Title Role Productions Ltd. It is clarified that there will be no occupation of space in order to ensure unhindered access for visitors, while filming will be limited to the absolutely necessary actions, with respect for the natural environment.
The production in question, broadcast by Channel 5 in the United Kingdom, follows three groups of British travelers on cruises to famous Mediterranean destinations. The series records their experiences on board, focusing on their contact with the civilization, everyday life, and local culture of the areas they visit.
This is not the first time that the show has chosen Greece for its filming. In the past, it has made stops in Crete, Mykonos, Athens, and Santorini, presenting footage of emblematic places, local customs, and traditional activities. For example, travelers have toured Hadrian’s Library, tried Greek cooking classes, visited cultural centers, and participated in dance events.
According to the municipality, this particular television appearance is considered an important opportunity for the tourism promotion of the region at an international level, showcasing the unique landscapes and strengthening the tourist profile of North Corfu. At the same time, the production will generate direct economic benefits for the local community through cooperation with businesses in the area.
Finally, a basic condition for the filming is to ensure the protection of the natural wealth and the qualitative characteristics of the destination.
