Medical personnel will also be inside the Samaria Gorge until the end of October

For the second consecutive year, the Natural Environment and Climate Change Organization (OFYPEKA) ensures the presence of medical personnel inside the Samaria National Park, strengthening the health coverage of one of the most popular natural destinations in the country.

From today, July 1st, until October 31st, 2025, the Park will be staffed daily with two doctors and one nurse, who will work in close collaboration with OFYPEKA executives to provide first aid and manage any emergencies within the gorge.

The initiative is part of a broader set of actions for the safety and protection of visitors, confirming OFYPEKA’s strategy to maintain the Samaria National Park as a top but also safe natural destination.

To date, July 1, more than 34,000 visitors have crossed the impressive gorge, confirming the enduring potential of the National Park as a tourist and environmental pillar of Crete.

OFYPEKA reminds visitors to the gorge that they must comply with the Operating Regulations, respect the natural environment, and take care of their own safety, taking into account the potential risks of movement in mountainous, natural terrain. In cases of emergency or weather phenomena, special regulations and prohibitions apply for entry and stay within the National Park, which visitors must strictly adhere to.
