With enthusiasm and professionalism, the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Chania (MAICh) continues its successful track record in implementing European projects under the Erasmus+ program, further strengthening its transnational cooperation with Italian educational institutions.
Two new Erasmus+ projects were recently completed successfully:
“Project: 2024-1-IT01-KA121-VET-000216081”
“Project: VETITEC Project Nr. 2024-1-IT01-KA121-VET-000206604”
Both projects fall under the field of Vocational Education and Training (VET) and were carried out in collaboration with the Italian institutes:
IPSEOASC Alberghiero “Giancarlo De Carolis” (Tourism, based in Spoleto)
IIS “Galileo Ferraris” (Industry, based in Bari)
Objectives and Activities
The main goal of the programs was to train 41 Italian teachers in modern and effective teaching methodologies, with a focus on:
Tourism education
Industrial vocational training
Inclusion of vulnerable groups
Training sessions were conducted by renowned MAICh instructors and enriched with visits to local institutions such as:
Municipality of Chania
Chania Hotel Association
These visits offered practical insights into sustainable tourism development and regional growth strategies.
Strong Outcomes and Cultural Immersion
The programs were highly praised for their efficient coordination by MAICh and the positive experience of participants, who not only benefited academically but also immersed themselves in Cretan culture and gastronomy.
During their stay, participants:
Explored archaeological sites and natural landmarks
Attended cooking classes using local ingredients led by MAICh’s chef
Tasted authentic dishes of Cretan cuisine
Enjoyed an agritourism experience unique to the region
Looking Ahead: Six More Programs, 52 More Educators
Building on its five years of experience in organizing such successful initiatives, MAICh is launching six more Erasmus+ projects this week, welcoming an additional 52 Italian teachers from various educational institutions across Italy.
These new actions reaffirm MAICh’s role as a key Erasmus+ training hub in Southern Europe, promoting:
