Karpathos | From hiking to diving: The unique festival Karpathos Climb & Adventure Fest
Karpathos is preparing to host a unique festival that combines sports, adventure and local tradition. The Climbing Festival – Special and Alternative Forms of Tourism, Karpathos Climb & Adventure Fest, is scheduled to take place on October 6 and 7 in Finiki, Karpathos, highlighting the natural beauties of the island and strengthening its tourist identity.

A festival for everyone

Karpathos has a unique natural environment with special geomorphological characteristics, ideal for outdoor activities such as climbing, hiking, diving and cycling. The festival aims to diversify the island’s tourism product, extend the tourist season and attract visitors with special interests, who are looking for alternative and sustainable experiences.

The choice of the October period is not accidental. It offers mild weather conditions, relief from peak tourist traffic and boosts local economic activity, benefiting businesses and jobs.

The festival program

The first day will begin with registration of participants for the two-day activities and the receipt of appropriate equipment. This will be followed by a seminar on climbing and safety rules from experts. In the evening, a traditional Carpathian meal of braised meat, rice with red sauce, potatoes, Karpathian bread, shortbread and baklava will be offered. At the same time, soft drinks, water and cocktails will be distributed, while there will be music throughout the day.

The second day includes hiking from Arkasa to Finiki, diving lessons, a demonstration of the making of the Karpathian Makarouna and the offering of prepared Makarouna to all participants. At the same time, a climbing competition and a bike tour of the area will be held. The day will close with the awarding of prizes to the top three climbers and music throughout the event.

Tourism and cultural dimension

The implementation of the festival functions as a tool for promoting the island, attracting audiences with high travel spending and environmental awareness. At the same time, it highlights Karpathos as an authentic and sustainable destination, enhancing the island’s international recognition and placing it on the map of alternative forms of tourism.

The Karpathos Climb & Adventure Fest in Karpathos combines sports, adventure, gastronomy and culture, making it a comprehensive experience for locals and visitors, as well as a strong lever for tourism development for the island.
