The board of directors of SINTIKI D.A.E. decided to sublease the Sidirokastro Thermal Baths and the Pigi Hotel for 26 years.
As stated during the board meeting by the chairman of SINTIKI D.A.E. Mr. Giorgos Hadjichristidis, from the summer of 2025 the amount of approximately 400,000 euros owed by SINTIKI D.A.E. from the Development Department has been transferred to the Tax Authority, resulting in the prohibition of the continuation of the operation of the Baths since it will not be possible to pay salaries.
He also emphasized that SINTIKI D.A.E. owes approximately 850,000 euros in a loan that the Company took out 7-8 years ago for which the Cooperative Bank sent a collection company and is pressing for its collection. At the same time, he noted that in order to receive the Special Operation Mark, the biological cleaning of the Baths had to be repaired, as there was a commitment to the Ministry of Tourism, which was not possible because the company’s finances did not allow it. Following the above, the President suggested that the only option available is to sublease the Sidirokastro Thermal Baths and the Pigi Hotel for 26 years, at which time their concession by the Greek Tourism Organization will also expire.
For his part, the mayor of Sintiki, Mr. Giorgos Tatsios, stated, among other things, that an important element is the payments of employees and subsequently of suppliers. At the same time, he added the following: “A key concern should also be the legality of the operation of the business. Sintiki D.A.E. should not be closed as a company, but the debts that have accumulated and reach 2.5 million euros are a disgrace to the Municipality of Sintiki. What I want the members to take into account is the goal. For employees from the Municipality to work, for visitors to come and leave happy, for the company’s debts and obligations to be paid.”
