Dynamic Cycling Weekend
Throughout the weekend of October 18 & 19, Syntagma Square will transform into a cycling hub with music, bikes, and many surprises for both young and old.
On Saturday, October 18, from 10:00 to 20:00, Kiss FM radio will be broadcasting live from the square, and at 20:00, the day’s big party begins with DJ Giorgos Lazaros on the decks.
On Sunday, October 19, the city wakes up to the rhythm of the 29th Athens Cycling Tour. From 09:00 to 12:00, Kiss FM will broadcast live from Syntagma Square.
The grand sports celebration will kick off accompanied by the Philharmonic Orchestra of the City of Athens, as well as the “explosive” percussion group Batala Atenas, while Jetlag The Band will sign off with a high-energy live performance.
The Mayor of Athens, Haris Doukas, stated:
“With every pedal stroke, we show that Athens can change its pace. The Athens Cycling Tour starts from Syntagma, a thrilling route through the city center, where cars give way to bicycles. This is the image we want to see more and more often—a city that moves with respect and safety.
Cycling awareness is not built overnight. It requires consistency and participation from all of us. We are planning and implementing step by step, a more pedestrian- and cyclist-friendly Athens.”
The President of the Organization of Culture, Sports, and Youth of the City of Athens (OPANDA), Eleni Zontirou, noted:
“The Athens Cycling Tour is a great celebration that combines sports, entertainment, and sustainable mobility. Last year, thousands of cyclists, including many children, took part in the major event.
This year, we want even more people to experience it, whether by exploring Athens without cars or simply joining the activities at Syntagma Square.
We look forward to welcoming you all to our city’s celebration.”
Those who visit Syntagma Square during the weekend will enjoy not only music and races but also dozens of activities that bring the public closer to cycling.
