Olga Kefalogianni at the 66th Thessaloniki International Film Festival

The Minister of Tourism, Ms. Olga Kefalogianni, visited Thessaloniki, in the context of the 66th Thessaloniki International Film Festival.

The Thessaloniki Film Festival is one of the most important cultural institutions in the country, with international recognition and a constant contribution to the promotion of Greek filmmaking.

The Minister met with the General Director of the Festival, Ms. Elise Zalando, and the Artistic Director, Mr. Orestis Andreadakis, in order to discuss ways to further deepen the cooperation that already exists between the Ministry of Tourism and the Festival. The discussion focused on actions that strengthen filmmaking and highlight Greece as a destination for culture and creation. The Minister highlighted the close relationship between culture and tourism and the decisive role they play in promoting the country’s international image.

As Ms. Kefalogianni noted, “Thessalonica is going through a period of dynamic development and extroversion. The Festival, with its history, prestige and modern dynamics, best expresses this new course of an open, creative and extroverted city.”

Furthermore, the Minister of Tourism met with the producers of the television series Adolescence, as well as the director Mr. Lefteris Charitos and the producer Ms. Amanda Livanos, on the occasion of a new international television production that will be filmed in Greece, with the participation of ERT. As the Minister emphasized, this new collaboration confirms the potential of our country as a place of creation and inspiration for major international productions. The Ministry of Tourism actively supports such initiatives that connect culture with tourism and highlight the country’s creativity and its unique identity.

As Ms. Kefalogianni pointed out, “Culture is a strategic advantage for Greek tourism. Through creation and art, Greece is promoted internationally as a country with identity, inspiration and values ??that have inspired visitors from all over the world over time”.

Finally, the Minister attended the opening of the 9th Thessaloniki Biennale at the MOMus Museum of Contemporary Art, in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Culture, Mr. Iasonas Fotilas. At the same time, she was given a tour by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of MOMus, Dr. Epaminondas Christofilopoulos at the exhibition “Frida Kahlo – Her Photos”, which presents for the first time in Greece 241 unpublished photographs of the iconic Mexican artist, revealing unknown aspects of her life and personality. The exhibition is held in collaboration with the Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera-Anahuacalli Museums.
