Greece’s 20-year-old tennis sensation, Stefanos Tsitsipas has gone up from 15th to 12th place in The Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) rankings after his Australian Open semifinal run, becoming the highest-ranked Greek tennis player ever (male or female), according to agonasport.com
By making it all the way to the semifinals, Tsitsipas received 720 points making the total of 2,805 points during the past 52 weeks.
Tsitsipas now finds himself just 75 points away from no. 11 Karen Khachanov of Russia, and 335 points away from no. 10 Marin Cilic of Croatia. With his natural talent and eagerness, it is forecast that Tsitsipas will continue to rise.
The young star will participate in four tournaments in February (Sofia, Rotterdam, Marseille, Dubai) before the two big Masters 1000 events in March (Indian Wells and Miami), followed by the Masters 1000 in Monte Carlo in April.
In October 2017, Tsitsipas became the highest ranked Greek man ever, as he was the first one to ever crack the top 100.
Maria Sakkari’s ranking also went up after her performance in the Australian Open, going from 43 to 37.
