Popi Xynopoulou, new President of the Association of Tourist Offices of Macedonia and Thrace

Popi Xynopoulou is the new President of the Association of Tourist Offices of Macedonia and Thrace (ATMTH), making history as the first woman to take the helm of the association since its foundation. Her election took place during the meeting of the nine members of the new board of directors, which was formed after the recent elections.

The new Board of Directors of the Union is as follows:

President: Popi Xynopoulou
1st Vice President: Loukas Tsakiridis
2nd Vice President: George Vogias
General Secretary: Stefanos Hatzimanolis
Treasurer: Kostas Kourakos
Supervisor: George Tziopanos
Members: George Gialamas, Evangelia Thomoglou, Vasilis Kasapidis

In a brief statement after the election, Ms. Xynopoulou expressed her gratitude for the trust shown in her by the members of the Board of Directors and underlined the importance of collective work:
“I thank all the members who elected me in the first place, and I thank the Board of Directors for trusting me. “One word: work,” he said, giving the stamp of his new term.

Costas Kourakos, who was also running for the Presidency, publicly congratulated the new President and pledged to continue his contribution to the Union and the common struggle for the interests of the sector.

“I congratulate my friend and colleague Popi Xynopoulou on her election. As I had assured her, I will continue to contribute to the Union and fight for the rights of our sector. I also want to thank the outgoing President and current Honorary President, Byron Theologis, for his support and everything he taught me,” he emphasized.

Byron Theologis, the President of the Association for many years and now Honorary President, spoke warmly about the process and the challenges facing the new Board of Directors. “The process for the election of a President and the formation of the new Board of Directors was carried out with absolute order and calm. I wish you a good term, a strong stomach, strength, and courage to work together on the problems of the sector, which are many,” he said.

The new President and the Board of Directors are taking office at a critical time for the tourism sector of Northern Greece, as tourism businesses are faced with new challenges and opportunities in a dynamically evolving environment.
